Because some patients do not like to just take medication to find relief from the pain, doctors focus more on fibromyalgia home remedies. Some of these fibromyalgia treatments may include:
- A fibromylagia diet, mainly maintaining healthy eating habits. Focusing the food intake on natural, wholesome foods. Reducing the processed and greasy foods. Also reducing the caffeine consumption is essential in a diet for fibromyalgia.
- Finding easy hobbies and activities to keep the patient busy. These activities help the patients to do something every day. The activities must not be too physically demanding, crafts and other home activities are suggested.
- Stress Reduction through relaxation. This is especially important for patients who were experiencing high stress levels when their fibromyalgia started. Stress reduction includes a plan to limit overbooking the daily schedule of the patient, meditation, or deep breathing exercises.
- It is important that the patient gets enough sleep to avoid fatigue during the day. Eight hours of sleep each night is necessary, and stick with a strict sleeping schedule– go to bed at the same time each night.
- Patients are advised to create a good schedule for their needs and stick to the schedule, they should avoid over working themselves or taking on too many activities.
- Fibromyalgia and exercise have shown to be a good way to help the patients experience less pain. When exercising and fibromyalgia are combined, at first the patient may experience more pain. But as they continue the habit of staying active, they will find relief. Many doctors suggest gentle stretches for fibromyalgia along with light impact activities such as swimming and walking.
- Many fibromyalgia patients find warm water and heat packs to be soothing. If heat help to relieve your pain, take time to relax in a hot tub or shower, or apply hot pads to painful areas.
